The Internet can give almost every information one seeks. If even it does not give you exactly what you want, at least you will find that a little has been written about the topic you put as query for the Google, Yahoo, MSN, to mention but a few search engines.
Just about 12 years ago, the dotcom business was so lucrative and was producing millionaires. So long as you had something to sell and could design a web page, all that you had to do was to submit those web pages to the search engines and you will have your page indexed in 48 hours and even in some case, just 24 hours.
Online hotel reservation agency business was one of the easiest businesses to set up. Before 2002, very few hotels had their own web sites. Many hotels did not have Internet presence and had to rely on Hotel reservation Agencies that had web sites to advertise their hotels on the Internet.
All that an agency had to do was to contact hotels and negotiate with them that they would supply them clients from their web sites at a commission. Hotels were happy to enter into such contracts because it was not as easy as today to have a webmaster. There were very few of them and they were very expensive to use. Hotels were not very familiar with the Internet and also not familiar with web page design programmes. Agents with web sites then had the upper hand in contract negotiations with the hotels. Some hotels were ready to give 20% commission to agents on every booking that came from the agent’s web site.
